We are excited to announce that we will be offering afternoon care for the 2017-2018 school year!
Children who stay at Kinderhaus for the afternoons will eat their lunches brought from home, then settle into a peaceful rest time, accompanied by stories, music, and a special blessing for each child. After rising from their rest, the children and Ms. Kristin will find home-like projects to work on, such as baking or gardening, and will finish their time together in free play.
Afternoons will run from 12:15-3:00.
We will be cancelling this Visit Day so a Kinderhaus staff member can be at a loved one’s funeral.
If you are interested in visiting Kinderhaus, please contact Rachel at: firstname.lastname@example.org or 563-379-7303 to make arrangements to visit our school next week!
Look for another “Kinderhaus Visit Day” this fall!
Saturday, May 20, 10:00am-12:00pm
Parents and children are invited to join us for a morning at Kinderhaus, to experience the warmth and wonder of our Waldorf-inspired, outdoor-based preschool!
Experience first-hand our outdoor classroom, song circle, organic homemade snack, and art project – and with time, of course, for free play!
This is a free event, however, RSVP’s are required. Contact 563-379-7303 or email@example.com for more info and to RSVP.

Meet our teachers, explore our classrooms, and see what our outdoor-based Waldorf-inspired preschool is all about!
When tasked with making a Christmas wish list for your family, do you find yourself thinking “Ugh, we just don’t need more stuff!”
What about an experience gift? What about giving the gift of Kinderhaus? We invite you to encourage your loved ones (and yourselves!) to donate to our incredible preschool in place of (or in addition to) a present under the tree.
Donors are able to earmark their contribution for a particular fund if desired:
- Equipment Fund
- Contribute to the purchase of a new computer, printer, and digital camera for our Kinderhaus staff.
- Play Fund
- Fairy Tents, garden tools, musical instruments, books… your contributions will help us grow our collection of Waldorf-inspired toys that encourage imaginative play and learning.
- Scholarship Fund
- Choose to support KinderGrant, our in-house scholarship program. Help us ensure that Kinderhaus is accessible to all children, of all families and incomes.
- Teacher Support Fund
- Your donation will support our caring and knowledgeable teachers by providing benefits, living wages, and workshop opportunities.
- Wherever Needed Most Fund
- Just like it sounds! We’ll put your donation toward our most important needs.

For each donation received, the Board will promptly mail a tax-deductible receipt and a gift notification card. This little card is a way for each donor to “pay it forward” and let someone know a gift was given in their name.
Thank you for helping to keep our little school mighty!
Blessings to you and yours this holiday season,

From the bottom of our hearts, we’d like to thank everyone that came out to our fundraising event on March 19: “On the Verge of Spring; Kinderfolk on Stage.”
Once again, our community has blown us away with their generosity and support!
Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening possible, and to all those that came out and donated to support our school!
On the Verge of Spring: Kinderfolk on Stage is being held at T-Bock’s Upstairs on Saturday, March 19. It is the first year for this festive event, to bring in the Spring and support Kinderhaus, Decorah’s outdoor-based, Waldorf-inspired preschool. And it’s being generously sponsored by T-Bock’s Upstairs. Doors open at 7:00 P.M. And music starts at 7:30.
It will be a night of fun with music, poetry, adult coloring, appetizers and a cash bar. The featured musicians, Sweet Jenny Wren (Ellen Rockne, Lor Miller, Randi Berg and Kristin Albertson) will perform known tunes, some of which attendees will want to sing along to, as well as lesser known songs with rich harmonies, and original numbers. Stevie Ray McCargar and the Raylettes, with Otter Dreaming on piano, will perform Steve’s favorite genre: Motown. Otter will also perform a musical number (that is not Motown). Local poets Becky Idstrom, Cerissa Snethen and Charlie Langton will share some of their wonderful work as well.
Music, poetry, coloring with friends, community… What better way to celebrate a preschool? You can support Kinderhaus by giving a free will donation at the door. (Kinderhaus is a non-profit, so donations are tax-deductible.) Come out and bring in the Spring with friends and fellow community members. We’re on the verge!
Tell your friends! We’ll be having our annual Open Haus on Saturday, February 20, from 9:00-12:00.
Come explore our indoor and outdoor classrooms, meet our teachers, and learn about our Waldorf-inspired, outdoor-based philosophy!
Explore. Play. Grow.
